If you've ever looked at the properties of a photo and seen numbers like 4032 × 3024 or 6000 × 4000, you've already seen your image's pixel dimensions.
Pixels are the foundation of every digital photograph. Whether you took a picture with a smartphone, DSLR, or mirrorless camera, every image is made up of millions of tiny pieces of information called pixels.
Understanding what pixels are—and what they aren't—will help you better understand image quality, print size, and why some photos can be printed much larger than others.

A megapixel simply means one million pixels.
