Updated August 2026 • 4-minute read

HD Mounted Prints combine the detail and color of a professional photographic print with the clean, rigid presentation of an aluminum composite panel.

Your image is printed on your choice of professional photo paper or metallic photo paper, protected with a Satin laminate, and permanently mounted to a 3 mm Dibond backing. The result is a sleek, durable display that is available with several mounting and framing options.

How Are HD Mounted Prints Made?

Unlike a direct-to-metal print, an HD Mounted Print begins as a traditional photographic paper print.

Your image is printed on the selected paper, covered with a protective Satin laminate, and permanently mounted to a rigid Dibond panel. Dibond is an aluminum composite material made with a solid core between two thin aluminum sheets.

This construction provides the visual qualities of photographic paper while creating a firm, flat presentation that does not require traditional glass or acrylic glazing.

Paper Options

Photo Paper

Our standard photo paper provides:

  • Rich color reproduction
  • Strong contrast
  • Deep blacks
  • A smooth photographic appearance
  • Excellent clarity and fine detail

Photo paper is a versatile choice for portraits, landscapes, commercial photography, and colorful artwork.

Metallic Photo Paper

Metallic photo paper provides:

  • A distinctive pearlescent appearance
  • Luminous highlights
  • Enhanced visual depth
  • Added impact in reflective surfaces and vivid colors
  • A more dramatic presentation than traditional photo paper

Metallic paper works especially well with images containing metal, water, glass, city lights, high contrast, or vibrant colors.

The metallic effect comes from the photographic paper itself. The image is mounted to Dibond rather than printed directly onto aluminum.

Satin Laminate

Each photographic print is protected with a Satin laminate before being mounted to the Dibond panel.

The Satin finish provides a balanced appearance with controlled reflections while helping protect the printed surface from normal handling.

Satin is the only laminate finish currently available for HD Mounted Prints. Additional laminate finishes may be introduced in the future.

Although the laminate provides added protection, the surface should still be handled carefully. Skin oils may leave visible marks, and abrasive materials or excessive rubbing may scratch or alter the finish.

Dibond Backing

Each print is mounted to a 3 mm-thick Dibond panel.

The backing gives the print:

  • A rigid, stable structure
  • A clean, contemporary presentation
  • Greater resistance to bending than an unmounted paper print
  • A finished appearance suitable for frameless display

The panel is cut to the finished dimensions of the print. The edges are not polished, and the layered construction of the print, laminate, and Dibond may remain visible along the edge.

Available Sizes

HD Mounted Prints are available from:

  • Minimum size: 4" × 6"
  • Maximum size: 48" × 96"

Custom dimensions are available in 0.25" increments within the supported size range.

The proportions of your uploaded image may require cropping unless the file already matches the dimensions being ordered. Always review the crop preview carefully before completing your order.

Mounting and Framing Options

Available display options include:

  • Float Mount
  • Box Mount
  • Float Frame

Availability may vary by print size.

Float Mount

A Float Mount is attached behind the print and creates the appearance that the artwork is floating slightly away from the wall.

Box Mount

A Box Mount adds greater depth behind the print for a more substantial, dimensional presentation.

Float Frame

A Float Frame surrounds the mounted print while leaving a small visual gap between the artwork and the frame. This creates a finished, gallery-style presentation without placing glazing over the image.

File Preparation

For best results, we recommend:

  • Color profile: Adobe RGB (1998)
  • Uploading the highest-resolution version of your image
  • Preparing the image at the final intended aspect ratio
  • Reviewing the crop preview before ordering
  • Avoiding critical subjects, signatures, or text directly against the trim edge

Colors in a physical print may appear different from the same image viewed on a backlit screen. A calibrated monitor and properly prepared print file provide the most reliable preview of the final result.

Production Time

The estimated production time for HD Mounted Prints is 6–8 business days.

Production time begins after the order and any required proof approvals are complete. Shipping time is additional.

Because each piece must be printed, laminated, mounted, trimmed, and inspected, production may take longer than an unmounted photographic paper print.

Display and Environmental Care

HD Mounted Prints are intended for indoor use.

Avoid installing them in locations exposed to:

  • Direct or prolonged sunlight
  • High heat
  • Strong nearby heat sources
  • Excessive moisture or humidity
  • Rapid temperature changes

The long-term effects of direct sunlight and heat exposure have not been fully tested for this product. As a precaution, we recommend displaying it in a stable indoor environment away from prolonged direct sunlight and concentrated heat.

As with other mounted products, unsuitable environmental conditions may contribute to warping, separation, or changes to the laminated surface over time.

Cleaning Your HD Mounted Print

For routine care:

  1. Remove dust with a clean, soft microfiber cloth.
  2. If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with clean water.
  3. Wipe the surface gently without applying excessive pressure.
  4. Carefully dry the surface with a second clean microfiber cloth.

Do not spray water or cleaner directly onto the print.

Avoid using:

  • Soap or household cleaners
  • Alcohol or ammonia-based products
  • Solvents
  • Paper towels
  • Abrasive cloths or sponges
  • Excessive rubbing or scrubbing

Whenever possible, handle the print by its edges or wear clean gloves during installation.

If a stubborn mark does not come away with gentle cleaning, contact Artbeat Studios before attempting a stronger cleaning method.

Common Misconceptions

Is the image printed directly onto the aluminum?

No. HD Mounted Prints are photographic paper prints that are laminated and mounted onto Dibond.

For an image printed directly onto coated aluminum, choose an HD Metal Print instead.

Is Dibond a solid sheet of aluminum?

No. Dibond is an aluminum composite panel with thin aluminum outer layers and a solid inner core. This provides rigidity while remaining lighter than a similarly sized solid aluminum plate.

Is the surface scratch-proof?

No. The Satin laminate adds protection, but it can still be scratched by abrasive materials, rough handling, or excessive cleaning.

Can HD Mounted Prints be displayed outdoors?

No. This product is intended for indoor display. Outdoor exposure, direct sunlight, heat, and moisture may damage the print or mounting materials.

Will the edges be polished like a solid metal plate?

No. The Dibond and mounted print are cut to their finished dimensions, but the edges are not polished.

Are other laminate finishes available?

Not currently. HD Mounted Prints are available with a Satin laminate at launch. Additional finish options may be added in the future.

Warranty

HD Mounted Prints include a three-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper handling, installation, cleaning, direct sunlight, heat, moisture, environmental exposure, or other conditions outside normal indoor display.

Please contact our support team with photographs and your order number if you believe your print has a manufacturing issue.

Our Recommendation

Choose Photo Paper for a versatile photographic presentation with strong color, contrast, and fine detail.

Choose Metallic Photo Paper when you want greater visual depth, luminous highlights, and a more dramatic pearlescent appearance.

HD Mounted Prints are an excellent choice when you want the look of a premium photographic paper print with the rigidity and modern presentation of an aluminum-backed display.
