What Does "No Mount" Mean?

Updated June 2026 • 4-minute read

One of the most common questions we receive is:
"What does 'No Mount' mean?"

At Artbeat Studios, a mount refers to the hanging hardware installed on the back of your artwork.
It does not refer to mounting a print onto another material.
Choosing No Mount simply means your artwork will be produced without hanging hardware attached, allowing you to install your own hardware or use a custom framing solution.

Quick Answer

A mount is the hanging system attached to the back of your artwork.
Choosing No Mount means:

  • No hanging hardware will be installed.
  • Your artwork will arrive without a mounting system attached.
  • You can install your own preferred hardware or have the piece professionally framed.

Why Choose No Mount?

Some customers prefer to install their own hardware because they:

  • Have a specific hanging system they prefer
  • Plan to frame the artwork
  • Are incorporating the print into a custom installation
  • Require specialized commercial mounting methods

If none of these apply, we recommend selecting one of our available mounting options for a ready-to-hang display.

Available Mounting Options

Depending on the product you choose, available mounting systems may include:

  • Silver Aluminum Rails
  • Black Aluminum Rails
  • Aluminum Easel Mount
  • Acrylic Desk Display
  • Float Mount
  • No Mount

Available options vary by product and size.

Will My Artwork Still Be Ready to Hang?

If you select one of our mounting options, your artwork will arrive ready for installation.
If you choose No Mount, hanging hardware will not be attached, and you'll need to provide your own mounting/display solution.

Which Mount Should I Choose?

The best option depends on:

  • The product
  • The size of the artwork
  • The installation location
  • Your preferred appearance

For example:

Aluminum Rails

Provide a clean, floating appearance and are hidden from the front of the artwork.

Float Mount

Creates separation between the artwork and the wall, producing a contemporary gallery-style presentation. This is available in sizes of 24"x36" and below only.

Aluminum Easel Mount

Designed for smaller pieces intended for tabletop display rather than wall installation.

Common Misconceptions

"No Mount" means my print isn't finished.

No.
Your artwork is fully finished and ready for display.
The only difference is that hanging hardware has not been installed.

"No Mount" means the image isn't attached to the panel.

No.
The artwork is fully produced.
"Mount" refers only to the hanging hardware on the back of the finished piece.

I can always add hardware later.

Yes, however, Artbeat Studios does not sell mounts individually after purchase.
However, if you're unsure which mounting option is best for your project, we recommend contacting us before placing your order.

Our Recommendation

If you're planning to hang your artwork immediately, selecting one of our mounting options is usually the simplest solution.
If you're working with a custom frame shop, interior designer, or commercial installer, No Mount provides the flexibility to use your preferred hanging system.
If you're unsure which option is right for your project, our team is happy to help you choose the best mounting solution.
